Main South Road, Aldinga, Adelaide SA
Client: CPB
Scope: Excavation, Soil Nail Installation, Steel & Shotcrete Works
For this major road duplication project, Ormond Civil was responsible for providing advanced slope stabilisation and retaining structures using soil nailing and shotcrete, a combination of techniques that reinforces embankments and cuttings to prevent erosion and ground movement.
Using our specialist rigs and equipment, our team installed high-strength soil nails (steel bars driven deep into the slopes to anchor the ground) followed by a layer of structural shotcrete, sprayed directly onto the surface to create a solid retaining face. These systems are essential to maintaining the stability and safety of the new road infrastructure, allowing construction to progress with confidence.

Working across variable ground conditions in Aldinga, our crew brought expertise, adaptability, and precision to every stage of the works. Safety and quality remained at the core of our operations, with each phase carefully planned and executed to meet the strict standards required on Tier 1 infrastructure projects.
As General Manager Taylor Dean noted: “At Ormond Civil, we take great pride in delivering innovative solutions that ensure stability and safety for critical infrastructure projects. Our experienced team brings a strong commitment to safety and quality, ensuring our soil nailing and shotcrete works provide lasting stability for the Main South Road Duplication.”
Now complete, our work in Aldinga forms an essential part of the broader project goal: improving safety, reducing travel times, and supporting future growth across the Fleurieu Peninsula. We’re proud to have played a part in enhancing South Australia’s infrastructure and grateful to the FCA for trusting us with this important component of the build.
